Discover the story behind Among Makers

What We Offer

Among Makers is a marketplace and community for small-scale Scandinavian creators, designers, and artisans. We offer an e-commerce platform where they can sell their self-made, unique, and sustainably crafted products - everything from home décor and ceramics to textiles, jewellery, and art.

In addition to the digital marketplace, we also organize physical design and craft markets where members can meet customers face-to-face. Our focus is on originality, quality, and fostering a close connection between maker and customer, rather than mass-produced goods.

Our Story

The idea for Among Makers was born from a desire to highlight Scandinavian creative joy – the small, passionate makers who are often overlooked in a world dominated by mass production. We wanted to create a space where these individuals can be seen, reach new customers, and meet both digitally and physically.

The name Among Makers reflects exactly this: a sense of community and closeness among designers, artisans, and customers. Here, you are among like-minded people - among those who create, dare, and contribute something genuine and original.

How We Started

The idea grew from a sense of something missing. After living and studying design in London for 16 years, I was used to constantly being surrounded by creative people - during my studies and at weekend markets like Spitalfields, Brick Lane, and Broadway Market. There was a vibrant atmosphere of creativity, innovation, and community.

When I moved back to Malmö, I missed having a place like that - where creatives meet naturally, and where creativity is visible and shared. The more I thought about it, the clearer it became that small-scale creators in Sweden face many challenges. It’s hard to gain visibility with just a personal website or Instagram, and high business costs and taxes don’t help.

That’s where the idea of a shared platform came from - a site that gathers these makers and makes it easier to reach new customers, while also building a movement for slow design and local creativity.
